2022 Miami Innovation Award Winners Honored During Discover Boating MIBS

At last week’s Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show (MIBS), the 2022 Miami Innovation Award winners were given out, recognizing companies bringing new, innovative products to the boating market.

The awards judges’ committee was comprised of seven Boating Writers International members who performed product testing throughout the year and have specific expertise in marine products and equipment.


Winners included:

  • Outboard EnginesMercury Marine, 7.6-liter V12 600hp Verado Outboard – “It’s changed the way boat builders design their boats. It’s so full of innovation we can’t even list it all,” said judges Jones and Rudow.
  • Center Console / Walkaround Fishing BoatsPursuit Boats, S 428 Sport – “Never before have I seen a fishing boat with such an incredible utilization of space that doesn’t sacrifice fishability,” said judge Lenny Rudow.
  • Consumer Electronics, Mobile Applications and SoftwareRaymarine, Cyclone Solid-State Open Array Radar – “Technology advancements make possible a streamlined, modern radar with full ARPA,” said judge Alan Jones.
  • Cuddy Cabin, Bowrider, Deck BoatsIngenity Electric, 23 Electric – “Its skateboard platform could be the start of a new generation of electric boats,” said judge Jones.
  • Deck EquipmentRoswell Marine, Rise Telescoping Helm System 
  • DUAL WINNER: Docking and Fendering Equipment: Orenco Composites, DuraLast Floating  Dock and Sunstream, SunLift SLX.
  • Electric Motor / Battery Powered Propulsion/ Hybridse-Motion LLC, e-Motion Parallel and Serial Hybrid

The Awards were announced during the Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show’s Industry Breakfast, presented by the Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation, held at the Miami Beach Convention Center. The judges’ committee included Ben Stein (Chair), Zuzana Prochazka (Co-Chair), Alan Jones, Lenny Rudow, Gary Reich, Frank Lanier, and Ryan Gullang.

The National Marine Manufacturers Association announced that the Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show drew more than 100,000 visitors during its five-day run in Miami Beach and downtown Miami. This was the first time the show was combined with Informa Markets’ Miami Yacht Show and Superyacht Miami.

“The reimagined, rebranded Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show was a resounding success and couldn’t have come at a better time,” NMMA president Frank Hugelmeyer said. “We are grateful for our partners and look forward to building off of the 2022 event to continue to deliver the best of boating to hundreds of thousands of boating enthusiasts from around the globe for years to come.”
